The officer was hit by a red Nissan Primera after being called to Plaistow following complaints about drug dealing in the area. It is thought the officer, aged in his 50s, was struck by a red Nissan Primera after trying to talk to the driver in North Street, Plaistow, east London.
Police and ambulance crews discovered the officer, aged in his 50s, lying in North Street on Tuesday evening. The driver is being sought on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
The Met believes the officer was trying to talk to the Primera driver, aged in his 20s, when he was hit by the car. This comes days after Det Con Catherine Corbett was seriously injured when she was hit by a car at Heathrow Airport.
The officer suffered injuries to his body and face, which are not thought to be life-threatening, and was later taken to hospital. Woman passenger
He is said to be in a serious but stable condition. Det Con Corbett had been trying to arrest a man when she was struck by the vehicle. She remains in a critical condition in hospital.
The driver of the Primera fled the scene after the accident. An appeal has been made for witnesses. Rashpal Singh, 41, of Gladstone Street, West Bromwich, appeared in court on Monday charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Police said the PCSO hurt in Tuesday's incident was responding to allegations of drug dealing in a car park opposite Plaistow library when he was injured at about 1930 GMT.
He was taken to hospital with injuries to his face and body and is in a serious but stable condition.
Police want to speak to the driver, aged in his 20s, who fled the scene after the accident, and a woman who was also in the car at the time.
