The search has resumed for a teenager feared drowned in dangerous waters near the township of Victor Harbor in South Australia.

Kamran Gujari, 19, disappeared on Friday afternoon while swimming with friends at Encounter bay, south of Adelaide. He was last seen in distress in the water at Petrel cove, near the Bluff.

A Sea Rescue Squadron spokesman on Monday said the search, which would include a police helicopter, has resumed. He said Petrel cove was an extremely treacherous beach, with a rip underneath which can sweep people away even if they are standing in shallow water.

The missing teenager's uncle, Saeed Gujari, said his nephew was a loving family member and a hard worker who wanted to complete his university degree at University of SA before studying for a PhD.

"He respected everyone and he was very polite," he told the Advertiser.

Up to four people, including a 19-year-old Norwegian, have drowned in several accidents throughout Australia during the Anzac Day long weekend.
