An investigation has begun into a fire that destroyed a house in a village on the Aberdeenshire coast. Fears are growing for a woman after fire destroyed a house in a village on the Aberdeenshire coast.

It was unclear if anyone was inside property. There were no immediate reports of casualties at the scene. The occupier and her pet dog are unaccounted for.
Fire crews said the building was badly damaged, making it unsafe to enter. Police were trying to trace the owner. Fire crews took more than two-and-a half hours to extinguish the blaze. The roof and first floor collapsed. An investigation is under way.
