How would the Air Force react if Godzilla actually attacked?

There’s a new “Godzilla” movie coming out next week, which raises an obvious question: Hey, if Godzilla actually attacked, what would we actually do? Who would try to deal with a massive monster that occasionally breathes fire?

Smithsonian’s Air and Space magazine was kind enough to contact the Air Force and ask people at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, how they would handle a Godzilla attack. Their answers involve a lot of helicopters with guns and the Hulk (the CGI one who appeared in “The Avengers” and his own movies, not the Hulk played by Lou Ferrigno on television):

We will update this post if the Air Force ever weighs in on how they would handle a Mothra assault or — and we don’t even want to imagine this, but — a situation involving Mechagodzilla.

Meanwhile, here’s a trailer for the coming movie, which (a) looks quite good and (b) stars Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and several other terrific actors.
