Police investigating the stabbing deaths of an estranged husband and wife in Walsall say they "strongly believe" he murdered her then killed himself.

Hayley Stringer, 29, suffered multiple stab wounds while David Stringer, 32, died of a single stab wound.

Their bodies were found at Mrs Stringer's home, on Hollemeadow Avenue, Blakenall, on 10 May.

Mrs Stringer's three children, aged 11, eight and seven, were asleep upstairs at the time.

Det Insp Justin Spanner, from West Midlands Police said: "Hayley suffered multiple stab injuries and David died from a single stab wound. At this stage we strongly believe that this is a murder-suicide."

Officers are not looking for anyone else and a 19-year-old man arrested in connection with the two deaths has been released without charge.

An inquest into the deaths is expected to be held at Sandwell Coroner's Court.
