A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 15.50 BST this afternoon to an accident between a pedestrian and a vehicle on the Cowley Road. An air ambulance initially landed at the scene but the casualty was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital by road.
"The road is currently blocked and diversions have been put in place at the Plain and Between Towns Road.
"The woman, who is believed to be in her 50s, has serious injuries and an air ambulance has landed at the scene."
