A man appeared before Wrexham magistrates on Monday, charged with perverting the course of justice. Mr Grant was arrested by Derbyshire Police while walking in the Whaley Bridge area at 1900 BST on Monday.
A spokeswoman for North Wales police said: "49-year-old Alan Grant, who is also known as Alan Weston, has been arrested by Derbyshire police on behalf of North Wales police." North Wales Police deputy chief constable Clive Wolfendale said the search was narrowed down as result of "intelligence" and information from members of the public.

Officers launched a nationwide search after a girl was reported missing on Friday. Mr Grant was initially held at Buxton Police station but has now been transferred to north Wales where he is being questioned.
In a statement, the teenager's parents, who cannot be named, said: "Our daughter is at home with us and although still deeply shocked and traumatised by what has happened, she is being supported by us and we have the support of family liaison officers together with other support agencies."

Officers investigating the case want to speak to the driver of an old-style Astra car, which may have come across the white van in the Brymbo area.
