Version 0 of 1.

Syrian military helicopters dropped barrel bombs on a rebel-held neighborhood in the northern city of Aleppo on Monday, shearing off the fronts of apartment buildings and killing at least 24 people, activists said. Government aircraft have pounded districts under opposition control in the divided city for months with the barrel bombs — canisters packed with explosives and shrapnel. Activists say about 2,000 people have been killed in such attacks in Aleppo this year. Monday’s air raids hit the Sukkari neighborhood, according to two activist groups, the Aleppo Media Center and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which is based in Britain and monitors the conflict with the help of a network of activists in Syria. Both groups said the attacks had also wounded dozens of people.
