Ed Balls summonsed over car crash

Shadow chancellor Ed Balls has been issued with a court summons in connection with a car crash.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed the Labour MP had been served with a summons for a case due to be heard at Leeds Magistrates' Court on 5 August.

The case involves allegations Mr Ball's car hit a parked car as he left his Morley and Outwood constituency office in April.

The MP's office said he did not intend to contest the charge.
