A55 crash at Rhuallt Hill brings westbound delays A55 lane shut for days after fatal Rhuallt Hill crash
(about 20 hours later)
Drivers travelling west on a major road across north Wales are facing delays after a serious accident at Rhuallt Hill, Denbighshire. A lane on a major road across north Wales will be closed for the next few days following a fatal crash.
North Wales Police said emergency services were at the scene at the bottom of the hill on the A55. Gary Ratcliffe, 41, from Manchester, died in the one-car crash on the A55 at Rhuallt Hill, Denbighshire, on Sunday.
The westbound carriageway was closed. A second man suffered minor injuries in the incident, which happened at about 17:30 BST.
At 18:00 BST, police said long delays were expected and drivers should avoid the area if possible. Sgt Jane Thomas from North Wales Police said drivers should find an alternative route while repairs are carried out. Witnesses should call 101.
The westbound lane is one of two on the A55 expressway between Tremeirchion and St Asaph. Traffic Wales cameras show slow traffic on the sections between junctions 30 Traveller's Inn and Pant y Dulath.
