A glider crashed into White Horse Hill in Oxfordshire as tourists watched, police have said.

The fixed-wing aircraft came down on the prehistoric monument in Uffington at about 13:47 BST.

Both paramedics and firefighters attended the scene, but the 24-year-old pilot was said to be uninjured.

Insp Rachel Patterson said: "I would like to thank everyone for their assistance while the emergency services did their work and helped the pilot."

The White Horse at Uffington is the oldest dated chalk figure in the country and forms part of a landscape of ancient sites.
