Women arrested after death of baby in Great Barr

Two women have been arrested after the death of a 13-month-old girl.

Emergency services received reports a girl had been taken ill at a property in Walsall Road, Great Barr, Birmingham, early on Thursday morning.

She died in hospital shortly afterwards and two women were arrested on suspicion of neglect, a West Midlands Police spokeswoman said.

"They are currently helping with inquiries and a post mortem will take place in due course," she added.
