Xolile Mngeni, 26, has been treated for a brain tumour and a source in South Africa said that 11 doctors had recommended he should be freed because they believe he is “going to die soon”. “They don’t see the point of him dying in a cell,” the source told the Mail on Sunday. | Xolile Mngeni, 26, has been treated for a brain tumour and a source in South Africa said that 11 doctors had recommended he should be freed because they believe he is “going to die soon”. “They don’t see the point of him dying in a cell,” the source told the Mail on Sunday. |

Mngeni’s accomplice, Mziwamadoda Qwabe, pleaded guilty to the murder and claimed he was paid £1,400 to kill Mrs Dewani in Cape Town in 2010 by her new husband, Shrien Dewani. Mr Dewani, who denies he was involved in the killing, is due to go on trial in October, pending a psychological examination. The millionaire businessman from Bristol is currently being treated in a hospital. In May, his lawyer said Mr Dewani was being “fully co-operative” and “his condition has improved”. | |
