The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall gave a rare display of public affection today on their trip to the ruined metropolis of Ephesus.

The royal couple strolled hand-in-hand on their tour of the ancient city Ephesus in Turkey.

It is one of the best preserved classical cities in the world and features an outdoor theatre.

The couple are on a four-day cultural tour of the country.

The prince placed his arm around Camilla as they watched a performance by a troop from the nearby town of Izmir.

The couple, who were married in 2005, toured the library of Celsus and walked down its steps hand-in-hand, with the duchess pausing to take pictures of the prince.

The prince also visited the Izmir Economic University near Ephesus and was surrounded by students eager to get a picture of him.

He watched a fashion show consisting of futuristic designs, based on an environmental theme.

The prince also looked around an organic farm where grapes are grown without using pesticides.

He grows organic produce on his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire.
