Ambulance stuck in Neath back lane for four hours

An ambulance carrying a patient to hospital became stuck in a "precarious position" in a back lane in Neath for four hours before it was hauled free.

A second ambulance was called to take the woman to hospital before a tractor arrived to pull the vehicle free.

The incident happened at Skewen en route to the city's Morriston Hospital.

The Welsh Ambulance Service said no-one was injured in the incident on Tuesday which happened after they were called to reports a woman feeling unwell.

"On leaving the property to take the patient to Swansea's Morriston Hospital, our emergency ambulance became stuck in a precarious position, which meant the vehicle was unavailable for approximately four hours," said a spokesperson.

"While waiting for the vehicle to be recovered, a second emergency ambulance and an ambulance officer were dispatched to the address and conveyed the patient safely to hospital."
