Notts County have signed the former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll. The 36-year-old Northern Ireland international, a free agent after leaving the Greek champions Olympiakos, has signed a one-year contract with the League One club.
Carroll has been training with County and played in their pre-season matches against Halifax Town and the Spanish side Osasuna.
After losing Bartosz Bialkowski to Ipswich last month, Carroll will be County’s No1 this season and will start against Preston at Deepdale when the season begins on Saturday.
Carroll, capped 35 times, has made over 400 appearances throughout his career, which has also included stints with Hull, Wigan, Derby, Rangers and West Ham. |
