The Princeton Review’s eagerly-awaited annual ranking of top party schools needs no introduction, so here is this year’s list, based on a survey of 130,000 students at 379 schools.

Somehow, universities don’t like to be called party schools, as if it party’s and academic prowess are mutually exclusive. And Syracuse, an excellent school, was not in a party-mood after its elevation to the top spot. In a statement to its student newspaper, the university said: “We do not aspire to be a party school. With new leadership, we are very focused on enhancing the student experience, both academically and socially. Students, parents, faculty and the full Syracuse University community should expect to see important and positive changes in the year ahead that will improve and enhance the student environment in every aspect.” Nor was Iowa complaining about its demotion from last year’s number one position.
