BoomTown festivalgoer pronounced dead after being found unconscious
(about 1 hour later) | |
A 31-year-old woman has died after being found slumped unconscious in a toilet at a music festival.
Security staff and medics discovered the woman in the lavatory at the BoomTown event near Winchester at 1.50pm on Saturday, Hampshire police said.
The festivalgoer was taken to hospital in Winchester, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The toilet block was cordoned off as officers investigated the scene at the festival, held at the Matterley estate. Her death is not believed to be suspicious.
A statement from police said: "It is too early to speculate on cause of death, and a postmortem examination will be conducted in due course to help determine this. Police are providing support to her family, including her husband who was at the festival with her."
Last year Ellie Rowe, 18, from Glastonbury, Somerset, died at BoomTown after taking ketamine. |
