The minister also extended her thoughts to French rider Pierre Favre who was critically injured during an Ulster Grand Prix motorcycling meeting at Dundrod on Thursday.
"Motorsport is hugely popular in the north, but there are risks involved and these latest events underline this," she said.
"In light of these incidents, I appeal to everyone involved in motor racing events - competitors, marshals, organisers and spectators - to take the utmost care and pay due regard to safety."
