Two-times World Snooker Championship runner-up Ali Carter expects to be back playing soon after finishing an intensive course of chemotherapy.

The 35-year-old was diagnosed with lung cancer in May, less than a year after resuming his career having recovered from testicular cancer. Carter also suffers from Crohn’s disease but is upbeat about his future, with the Crucible runner-up in 2008 and 2012 looking forward to returning to the table.

Taking to his Twitter account, @TheCaptain147, he posted: “Hi people, not been on here much, been busy getting myself better! I have now finished my chemotherapy and things are really positive!

“I’m feeling much better and it won’t be long till I’m back playing again!! Missed it big time..#perspective #beatingcancer.”
