Matty Fryatt scored his first goal for unbeaten Nottingham Forest as Stuart Pearce’s men came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1 at Dean Court and replace them at the top of the Championship.

Fryatt, a summer signing, rose highest to guide the substitute Jack Hunt’s cross past a diving Lee Camp after 72 minutes to complete an unlikely turnaround.

The Cherries, looking to make it three wins from three this season, dominated the game from the start and took the lead after 58 minutes when their new £3m striker, Callum Wilson, toe-poked his third goal of the campaign.

Eddie Howe’s men could have been 3-0 up but were pegged back nine minutes later when Forest’s £5m man, Britt Assombalonga, lost his marker in the box to send Andy Reid’s free-kick past Camp; and soon afterwards Fryatt netted the winner.

Forest were joined on seven points by Cardiff City as Nicky Maynard came back to haunt the club where he finished last season. The former Latics loanee scored the game’s only goal in the 53rd minute to leave Wigan without a victory this season.

Charlton condemned Steve McClaren’s Derby County to their first defeat of the Championship season with a 3-2 win at The Valley.

George Tucudean opened the scoring for Charlton before Jamie Ward curled home a fine leveller to restore what looked like normal service. But once Yoni Buyens scored from the penalty spot Charlton never looked back, with Igor Vetokele’s header handing them some breathing space. Despite Ward’s late second goal of the night, the home side clung on and are now fourth.

The substitute Magaye Gueye struck an equaliser in the fifth minute of injury-time as Millwall snatched a 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday. The winger fired his first Lions goal into the roof of Keiren Westwood’s net with virtually the last kick of the game at Hillsborough.

Millwall, also on seven points and in third place, looked to have squandered their chance when Shaun Williams missed an 85th-minute penalty after Chris Maguire put the Owls ahead with a free-kick early in the second half.

Brentford secured their first Championship victory as Stuart Dallas grabbed the winner early in the second half to beat struggling Blackpool 2-1 at Bloomfield Road.

Nathan Delfouneso had put the Tangerines ahead with their second goal of the campaign but Alex Pritchard levelled after 37 minutes. Dallas’s goal then gave the Bees their first win on return to the second tier after 21 years.

The result left Blackpool with one win from their last 13 games in all competitions and without a Championship point this season.
