Version 0 of 1.

A one-year-old baby girl has been attacked in a York street.

Police said the girl was waiting at a crossing with her childminder and an assistant when she began to cry.

A man standing in front of her then turned around, walked towards the child and kicked her in the stomach, causing a "minor external injury".

The incident happened on Wednesday at about 09:55 BST at the pelican crossing at the junction of Lendal Bridge and Station Avenue.

Officers said the man was with a woman who "immediately apologised for the incident explaining that the man had a behavioural condition".

Police are appealing for the man and the woman to come forward.
