A leisure centre was placed on stand-by in case evacuations were needed from homes in River Street in Ystrad.
Councillor Eudine Hanagan, cabinet member for emergency planning at Rhondda Cynon Taf council said: "Staff from a number of our departments worked throughout the night and it is all hands to the pump again today to ensure we deal with any situations that remain."
