Version 0 of 1.

Protest leaders in Islamabad said Wednesday that their supporters would vacate the Parliament area, where they converged last week, after violent clashes with the police. Muhammad Tahir-ul Qadri, a firebrand cleric, made the announcement but told supporters, “We will not leave Islamabad till the resignation of Nawaz Sharif,” the prime minister. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, the political party of the opposition leader Imran Khan, has also ordered its workers to leave the area. Mr. Qadri’s and Mr. Khan’s parties are now negotiating with the leaders of other parties to break a deadlock that has paralyzed the city. Formal talks between representatives of the government and protesters are expected Thursday.
