Smethwick murder inquiry as woman's body found

A murder inquiry has begun after a woman's body was found on a road in Smethwick, West Midlands.

Police said the body of the 48-year-old was found in Cheshire Road late on Wednesday night.

Det Insp Caroline Corfield said it was not yet clear how the woman had died and tests were continuing.

Officers were called after reports a woman had collapsed. Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.
