Scottish independence: NHS Orkney chairman apologises for comments

The chairman of NHS Orkney has apologised following comments about the independence referendum in a newspaper. John Ross Scott was quoted in the Press and Journal last month saying a "Yes" vote was the best way to secure the future of the NHS in Scotland. The article prompted concerns from other members of the NHS Orkney board. In a statement, the board has now said Mr Scott had acknowledged giving a personal view could be misinterpreted, given his role as chairman. On 18 September Scots will vote "Yes" or "No" to the question: "Should Scotland be an independent country?" |
