Murder charge after tower attack

A 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a man in Edinburgh.

Michael Gardner, 33, of Clovenstone Drive, Edinburgh, died from his injuries after the attack in the city's Calder Park area on Tuesday evening.

It is thought that the man was attacked in the stairwell of a tower block.

A squad of about 30 detectives from Lothian and Borders Police and a large team of uniformed officers have been working on the case.

The suspect will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
