Germany’s domestic security watchdog must purge all files it has kept on a politician from an opposition party with roots in the former East Germany, a court said Friday. The administrative court in the western city of Cologne upheld a complaint by the politician, Gregor Gysi, the parliamentary leader of the opposition party Die Linke, or the Left Party. The court ordered the Office for the Protection of the Constitution to “destroy the personal file of the plaintiff” as well as any data it had collected on him. |
