Cyclist dies after A38 crash near Plymouth

A cyclist who was seriously injured in a major road crash in Devon has died.

The 58-year-old local man had been airlifted to Derriford Hospital after he was struck by a lorry on the A38 between Plymouth and Exeter.

Emergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway of the road near Lee Mill, at about 10:55 BST on Friday.

The lorry driver, a man aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, officers said.

Tailbacks stretching about five miles (8km) were reported near the scene of the crash and the road was closed for several hours.
