Woman dies after being struck by train at Lenzie

Police and paramedics were called after reports that she had been hit on a stretch of the line at Lenzie on Saturday morning. She was pronounced dead at the scene and the death was not being treated as suspicious. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal. Rail services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh, Dundee, Dunblane and Alloa were affected. ScotRail advised passengers they could face a reduced service, cancellations or delays. A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line close to Lenzie rail station after a report that a woman had been struck by a train. "Officers from British Transport Police and Police Scotland attended the incident which was reported to police at 10:17 and is currently being treated as non-suspicious. "Paramedics from Glasgow Ambulance Service also attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal." |
