Thief steals ambulance sat-nav during emergency call in Nottingham
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-29094142 Version 0 of 1. A thief stole a sat-nav system from an ambulance while the crew treated a patient. The device was taken from the ambulance while it was parked outside a house in New Basford, Nottingham, on Friday night. A spokesman for the East Midlands Ambulance Service said the theft had forced the ambulance off the road. He appealed for anyone with information to contact Nottinghamshire Police. Security management specialist at the ambulance service Nick Arnold said those responsible "should be ashamed of themselves". "Whoever did this is putting lives at risk because we had to take the vehicle off the road to have a replacement unit fitted," he said. "Crews clearly need to get to the scene of an emergency as quickly as possible. "They have road maps to help them navigate but a sat-nav is a much faster system which is why we've installed them into our front-line vehicles. |
