An Australian woman has died and more than a dozen have been injured in a bus crash in Kenya. Two Australians are dead after a tourist bus rolled and crashed into a river in Kenya.
There are unconfirmed reports a second Australian may have been killed. One of the dead was an elderly woman who died at the scene. Twenty-five other people, including 14 Australians, were taken to hospital with injuries including fractures and head wounds.
Passengers were treated in hospital after the tourist bus rolled down a steep embankment while transporting the group to the popular Masai Mara game reserve. Tony Abbott confirmed consular officials in Nairobi were assisting the families of the dead and injured.
Reports suggesting a second Australian may also be dead have yet to be confirmed. “It’s awful beyond belief for the families of all of those involved,” the prime minister said on Monday.
Fourteen Australians and 11 others were taken to the Narok County hospital after the crash and treated for a range of injuries, including fractures and head wounds. The tourist bus rolled down a steep embankment while transporting the group to the popular Masai Mara game reserve.
