Version 0 of 1.

At least 12 people were killed and more than 27 were wounded on Monday when suicide bombers attacked a convoy carrying African Union troops and Somali officials south of the capital, officials and witnesses said. The convoy was traveling to Afgooye, about 18 miles south of Mogadishu, the capital, when it was attacked near the Calamada area, above, said Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur Siidii, a regional governor, who was riding in the convoy. One bomber detonated his explosives near a minibus, killing 12 civilians, and the other hit a vehicle in the convoy, officials and witnesses said. Two foreign military advisers and two African peacekeepers were among the wounded, the governor said, but civilians bore the brunt of the attack. The Islamist militant group known as the Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack. The leader of the Shabab, Ahmed Abdi Godane, was killed in a recent American airstrike, and the group has vowed to avenge his death.
