Nigerian ground forces backed by warplanes battled Boko Haram militants on Tuesday in a second day of heavy fighting that wounded the son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo this week, a senior official said. The air force was bombarding the group’s positions in and around the northeastern town of Michika, among other spots, the government official said, calling the fighting tense. Lt. Col. Adebayo Obasanjo, son of the former president, was among the soldiers wounded when his platoon was attacked in Adamawa State on Monday. He was evacuated to a hospital. |
