Investigation into fatal house fire in Neath Investigation after man dies in house fire in Neath

South Wales Police and the fire service are carrying out a joint investigation into a fatal house fire in Neath. A joint police and fire investigation is being carried out into a fatal house fire in Neath.
Emergency services were called to a house in London Road shortly before 07:00 BST in which one person died. South Wales Police said a man died but he has not yet been formally identified and they are trying to trace his next of kin.
The person has not yet been identified. A post-mortem examination will be carried out once the man has been identified.
South Wales Police said an examination of the scene will take place later on Thursday. Emergency services were called to the house in London Road shortly before 07:00 BST.
Det Insp Trudi Meyrick of Neath Port Talbot CID said: "We are continuing to jointly investigate the cause of the fire which at this stage is being treated as unexplained.
"We are yet to establish the man's next of kin and we appeal to anyone who knew the occupant of the property or his family or friends to contact police."
