Report: Adrian Peterson indicted on child abuse charge
Version 0 of 1. Fox 26 in Houston is reporting that Minnesota Vikings’ star running back Adrian Peterson has been “indicted in Montgomery County for reckless or negligent injury to a child.” The Fox affiliate said they attempted to contact Peterson’s lawyer, Rusty Hardin, but he is declining to comment. The Vikings issued a statement saying the team is “in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson” and deferred questions to Hardin. A USA Today story by Tom Pelissaro cited a person with knowledge of the case who said the incident in question involves Peterson using a switch to spank his son. Jay Glazer tweeted that Peterson “will have to turn himself in and thus his status for this weekend is now unclear.” The Vikings play the New England Patriots this Sunday. Last year, Joseph Robert Patterson was charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, manslaughter, and aggravated battery relating to the death of Peterson’s two-year-old son. Patterson has been free on bail since October.
