Unlicensed driver was allegedly behind wheel in Kogarah crash that killed teen
Version 0 of 1. A driver who has never held a licence was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a Sydney pharmacy, killing a teenage girl, police say. Emergency teams were called to Kogarah on Monday when the woman’s four-wheel drive left the road and ploughed into the shopfront of O’Reilly & Daly Chemists. Aneri Patel, 16, was trapped under the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver, a 26-year-old woman, was arrested and underwent blood and urine testing in hospital before being interviewed at Kogarah police station. She has been bailed to appear in Kogarah local court on October 14 on charges including dangerous driving occasioning death and driving without a licence. Two children, aged two and four, who were with her in the car were uninjured. The crash happened at the same spot where 20-year-old fashion student Emma Hansen was killed by a car while waiting for a bus seven years ago. |
