It is understood the man died at the hospital in Redhill. Run Reigate and Reigate and Banstead Borough Council said the man died later at the hospital in Redhill.
The runner was also treated at the scene by St John Ambulance before paramedics arrived.
"We are deeply saddened by what has happened and we extend our condolences to family and friends," said leader of the council, Victor Broad.
