Police armed with guns and shields have entered a property on the south side of Glasgow following an armed siege. A siege involving armed police in Glasgow relates to a former prisoner who went missing after breaching his bail conditions, the BBC understands.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed that officers had been called to Boyd Street, in the city's Govanhill area, at about 11:20 on Monday. Police cordoned off Boyd Street, in the Govanhill area, at 11:20 on Monday. Police armed with guns and shields were later said to have entered a property.
A BBC reporter at the scene said two police vans had turned up and armed officers had entered the property. The operation relates to Johnathan Kelly, 33, from Drumchapel, Glasgow.
Police said there was an ongoing incident but described it to locals as an "armed siege". He was freed from Low Moss Prison in August. His licence was revoked for failing to comply with conditions.
