Version 0 of 1.

Grandparents-to-be Bill and Hillary Clinton haven’t been at all shy about their grandbaby fever. But even with all their preening, the power couple has managed to keep the details of exactly when daughter Chelsea’s bundle of joy will arrive strictly under wraps. Sometime in the fall has been the vague-but-not-totally-vague party line. Until now.

In an interview with CNN that aired Sunday, Bill Clinton more than just hinted at when he’ll start sporting that “World’s Greatest Granddad” sweat shirt.

“I hope by the first of October, I’ll be a grandfather,” Clinton told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria.

That’s a busy two weeks for Club Clinton. They’ve got the Clinton Global Initiative’s annual 4-day conference, which kicked off on Sunday night with a star studded awards ceremony. Comedian Seth Meyers hosted with cameos by Leonardo DiCaprio, Eva Longoria, Sting and Idris Elba, among others. Adding a newborn to the mix just one week later sounds like a lot. But then again, we’re talking about the Clintons.

When asked if he cared whether the newest addition to the clan was a boy or a girl, Clinton answered “no” immediately.

“I don’t know,” said Clinton. “My daughter and son-in-law decided not to know. They want to be surprised. So we’re all just sitting around waiting.”

The family might not know the baby’s gender yet, but there’s one thing Chelsea’s pretty sure about: its political party.

At an event sponsored by Town & Country magazine in May, Chelsea was asked what she would do if she had a Republican.

The mom-to-be answered, “I would find that very hard to believe.”
