Bomb scare in Brisbane after tourist leaves suitcase in bank

A tourist with limited English has sparked a bomb scare in Brisbane after he left his suitcase in a bank.

Part of Brisbane’s CBD was closed down after the suitcase was found inside a bank opposite Brisbane’s supreme court complex on Wednesday morning.

Bank workers and people in surrounding areas were evacuated and a man was taken into custody for a short time.

But the tourist was soon released without charge after what police called a misunderstanding.

The area has since been reopened.
