A man has been arrested after a 19-year-old woman was found dead. Police investigating the death of a student nurse in Londonderry say they are keeping an open mind as to how she died.
It is understood her body was found in a flat in Cromore Gardens, Londonderry, at about 02:00 BST. The 19-year-old woman died in hospital after being found unconscious at the foot of stairs at a flat in Cromore Gardens at about 02:30 BST.
Police have said they are investigating the circumstances and a 21-year-old man has been arrested. A post-mortem will be held on Friday. A 21-year-old man has been arrested.
Sinn Féin councillor Kevin Campbell said the community was shocked. "It is a quiet neighbourhood and something of this nature just doesn't land on their doorstep," he added. Detectives have appealed for help in tracing the County Down teenager's movements before 02:00 BST.
'Tragic'
Det Ch Insp Michael Harvey said: "We know that she was in a nightclub in the city centre with friends.
"We believe she left the nightclub in a taxi at about 1am.
"We are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances of this tragic death."
