Kirsty Wright, 21, suffered serious stab wounds at a house on Evesham Road in Redditch on 15 March and died the following day in hospital. Akeel Hussain, 30, of Pembroke Croft, Birmingham, had denied murder, but changed his plea during the trial at Worcester Crown Court. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday and told to serve a minimum of 19 years. Ms Wright's parents said her death had "ripped our family apart". In a statement, they said: "Kirsty was so excited about becoming a mother for the second time and she was a wonderful and devoted mother to her two-year-old son. "We will do our best to ensure he can go on to live a happy, normal childhood and when he is old enough to understand the tragic way his mother died, we will support him." West Mercia Police said Ms Wright was 13 weeks pregnant with her second child when she was stabbed by her partner. |
