Man hurt in dumper truck incident at Pen Dinas, Rhondda

A man in his 50s has been airlifted to hospital in Cardiff with life-threatening injuries after an incident involving a dumper truck.

It happened at a block of flats at Pen Dinas, Tonypandy, in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Ambulance and fire crews were called to the incident at about 16:14 BST.

South Wales Police said it was an industrial incident and the Health and Safety Executive had been informed.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 16.14hrs to an incident at Pendinas, Tonypandy involving a dumper truck.

"We responded with four rapid response vehicles, a basics doctor, an ambulance officer, a hazardous area response team and helimed.

"A male in his 50s was flown to UHW ( University Hospital of Wales) with serious life-threatening injuries."

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Tonypandy and Pontypridd assisted police and ambulance crews.
