Dozens of firefighters worked throughout the night to tackle a fire at a Leeds city centre nightclub. A fire has badly damaged the former Majestyk nightclub in Leeds.
At its height up to 75 officers were dealing with the fire at the Majestyk club in City Square. Dozens of firefighters worked through the night to tackle the blaze at the Grade II-listed premises, the home of the Majestic cinema in the 1920s.

The Grade II listed former Majestic cinema, later the Majestyk nightclub, had recently been refurbished.
It has been through a number of facelifts since it opened in 1922, including a stint as a ballroom in the 1950s and a bingo club in 1969.
