The road was closed to allow crash investigations to take place and police appealed for witnesses. The road was closed for 10 hours for crash investigations. Police have appealed for witnesses.
Sgt David Pirie, of Police Scotland, said, "This was a tragic incident which has resulted in the death of a local man.
"Our investigation into the collision and the circumstances leading up to it are progressing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle in the lead up to it to contact us on 101."
Both injured women were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
