Today marks the first in a line of 6 Music Live sessions. As part of its fifth season beamed in from the BBC’s legendary Maida Vale Studios, the series kicks off with a set from former Smiths guitarist and indie icon, Johnny Marr, who celebrates the release of his second solo album Playland today - a collection of songs described by the Guardian’s John Harris as “one of the most straightforwardly commercial pieces of music Marr has ever recorded.” Monday marked the first in a line of 6 Music Live sessions.
