Celtic footballer to stand trial over alleged Elvis impersonator assault
Version 0 of 1. Celtic star and Republic of Ireland international Anthony Stokes is to stand trial for an alleged assault on an Elvis Presley impersonator in Dublin. The 26-year-old Celtic striker will be tried next year in the Irish capital over the alleged attack in a Dublin nightclub. Stokes was sent forward to Dublin circuit criminal court on charges of allegedly assaulting Anthony Bradley at the Buck Whaleys nightclub on 8 June 2013. The footballer’s lawyer, Lorcan Staines, indicated to judge Martin Nolan that his client was seeking a trial date. Nolan then remanded Stokes on continuing bail to the trial date, which is set for 11 May 2015. Bradley is alleged to have had his nose broken during an incident inside the nightclub, but Stokes has denied he was the aggressor in an argument prior to the alleged assault. |
