Calvin Harris, the Dumfries DJ who topped the world’s highest-earning DJ list, has unveiled details of his forthcoming new album Motion. Named recently as the first artist to ever reach one billion streams - Harris’ fourth album will include guest appearances from No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani, who is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new solo album, previous collaborator Ellie Goulding and a throng of newer names such as Haim, Tinashe, Big Sean, Hurts, John Newman, Firebeatz and R3hab. | Calvin Harris, the Dumfries DJ who topped the world’s highest-earning DJ list, has unveiled details of his forthcoming new album Motion. Released on 3 November, Motion already features two No 1 singles in Under Control, his collaboration with Alesso and synth pop duo Hurts, and Summer, Harris’ most-popular track on Spotify, with over 160 million streams worldwide. But he’s still got a steep hill to climb if he hopes to beat the success of his 2012 album 18 Months: featuring Rihanna, Example, Florence Welch, Dizzee Rascal, Kelis, Ne-Yo and Tinie Tempah, the album made chart history by achieving nine top 10 singles, five of which were No 1 singles. | |
With great success comes an element of uncomfortable public exposure, however. Harris’ one-time girlfriend Rita Ora claimed that he blocked her performing their co-written track I Will Never Let You Down at the Teen Choice awards back in August. “You’ll only know 1 side of the story RE Teen choice awards because I choose not to talk to the papers about every aspect of my personal life,” he Tweeted in response. | With great success comes an element of uncomfortable public exposure, however.
