Black accuser Radler gets jailed

David Radler, the executive whose testimony helped to jail media tycoon Conrad Black, has been given a 29 month sentence for fraud.

Radler worked closely with Black, helping him build up the media company Hollinger International.

His testimony was key in convicting UK peer Black of stealing millions of dollars from Hollinger shareholders.

The 65-year-old Radler pleaded guilty to a charge of fraud for his role, and was also fined $250,000 (Â£123,719).

The Hollinger group used to own London's Daily Telegraph and the Jerusalem Post. Its last big-name paper is the Chicago Sun-Times.

Earlier this month, Black was convicted of three counts of fraud and another of obstructing justice.

He was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in jail, but always protested his innocence.

Following his sentencing, Radler said he was "sorry".

"I made mistakes and they hurt me and my family," Radler said. "I will live my life with this and I'm sorry for what I've done."
